Comfortable design
The lightweight Sony WH-CH720N headphones are designed with comfort in mind. The headband and earcups feature soft cushioning that makes them comfortable for long listening sessions. The earcups are also rotatable, allowing you to adjust them to fit your head size. Additionally, the earcups are made from aluminum for added durability. The Sony WH-CH720N features noise cancellation technology and up to 35 hours of battery life. Its dual noise sensor technology and integrated processor V1 shut out the world around you, letting you focus on your music or podcasts. In addition to noise-canceling technology, the WH-CH720N has an adaptive sound control function that adjusts ambient sounds based on your surroundings. The WH-CH720N also has beamforming microphones to pick up your voice for hands-free calls. In terms of audio quality, the WH-CH720N provides an enjoyable listening experience. It has 30mm dynamic drivers and a frequency response range of 20-20,000Hz. Its impedance is 325 ohms when connected to an AUX cable and 31 ohms over Bluetooth connectivity. It also has a built-in DSEE digital upscaling feature that enhances low-quality music files. The Sony Headphones Connect app provides a variety of audio controls and settings, including the ability to tailor the audio to your personal taste. The EQ options allow you to make adjustments to bass, mids, and highs. The app also lets you activate multipoint Bluetooth pairing and a Safe Listening mode.
Noise-canceling performance
While Sony’s flagship WH-1000XM5 headphones may be considered the pinnacle of active noise cancellation technology, their high price tag may not be within everyone’s budget. Fortunately, the company’s CH720N headsets offer impressive ANC performance at a much more reasonable cost. These lightweight, over-ear headphones are comfortable to wear and feature a sleek, attractive design. The ear cups are made of plastic with a white leather-effect material that rests on your head and ears comfortably, providing enough room to seal out ambient sound. The back of the headband features a series of strategically-placed grilles and cutouts that help improve the noise-canceling technology’s effectiveness. Additionally, the earcups are designed with a slight curve to fit your ears. These headphones are also powered by a rechargeable battery that promises up to 35 hours of listening enjoyment. They also come with a fast charger and a cable with 3.5mm jack for wired connection. The WH-CH720N’s noise-canceling technology is effective at blocking out unwanted sounds and focuses on lower frequencies where ambient noises are often heard. However, this is not an absolute guarantee that the ANC will block out every ambient sound.
Sound quality
Despite not being as premium as some of Sony’s other headphone offerings, the CH720N are still a solid pair. The headband is sturdy enough to resist creaking, and the headphones are light, comfortable, and don’t draw attention to themselves. However, they lack a hard case and pouch for storage and protection. Sony’s active noise cancellation performs well, but it’s not as effective as the company’s flagship WH-1000XM5. The attenuation of lower frequencies is good, but it’s a bit too shallow for my taste. This makes music sound flat and congested, and it’s difficult to hear vocals. The bass on the headphones is warm and full, but it doesn’t extend very deep. It’s enough to provide a good sense of low-frequency energy, though. The CH720N also have a decent amount of mid and upper-bass, which adds a lot of energy to music. Using the Sony Connect app, you can adjust the sound of the headphones to your liking. Its EQ controls allow you to customize your listening experience, and the headphones are also compatible with voice-command features like Siri and Google Assistant. The WH-CH720N is a great option for anyone looking for a set of over-the-ear headphones with excellent noise cancelling performance at an affordable price. They are lightweight, comfortable, and have impressive battery life. You can even use them for long periods without recharging.
Battery life
Sony has done a good job of balancing affordability with premium audio performance with its WH-CH720N headphones. They deliver a great noise-canceling experience, a comfortable fit, and a good battery life at a budget-friendly price. They also feature multipoint Bluetooth pairing and a USB-C port for fast charging. They are not quite as portable as the WH-1000XM5s, but they do fold up for easy storage in a small pouch. The ear cups rotate and the headband is adjustable for a customized fit. They are also light enough to wear comfortably while doing active activities, such as running or working out. However, they are not designed to be a travel headset and don’t come with a carrying case. Like other Sony wireless headphones, the WH-CH720Ns have a sleek and attractive design that is well-built. The ear cups are slightly larger than those of competing products, but they still look sleek and professional. The earcups are angled and the headband is cushioned, making them very comfortable to wear for long periods of time. The WH-CH720N headphones have an impressive battery life of up to 36 hours with ANC on and up to 50 hours without it. They can also be charged quickly in just 10 minutes for up to an hour of playback. Their sound quality is excellent, with deep bass and clear highs. They allow the subtleties in boygenius’s The record to shine, from the somber guitar effects on “True Blue” to the fingerpicked acoustic guitar and banjo on “Cool About It.”
